Polygon Labs has recently made a major announcement that is set to impact the Ethereum network’s future positively. The protocol has launched Polygon zero-knowledge proof Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) on mainnet Beta, a permissionless and public network allowing users to transact and build. 
According to the announcement, to further support the protocol’s development, Polygon zkEVM is now completely open-source. With this launch, Polygon is allegedly helping to pave the way for the next chapter of Ethereum’s development and offering developers and users a new tool for building decentralized applications. 

What Are The Benefits Of Polygons’s New zkEVM?
The Polygon zkEVM is a zero-knowledge proof (ZPK) scaling solution developed by the same protocol, designed to enable faster and cheaper transactions on Ethereum’s network. The public testnets for zkEVM have established it as a leader among Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) equivalent ZK scaling solutions. 
One of the key benefits of zkEVM is its use of zero-knowledge proofs, which ensures security and reduces gas fees. Another win for users is that zero-knowledge proofs enable transaction verifications without revealing sensitive information, making them highly secure. 
Furthermore, Polygon’s zkEVM is designed to be fully compatible with the EVM, so developers can easily deploy existing Ethereum smart contracts on the network, facilitating developers to migrate their existing applications to zkEVM. 
Additionally, the zkEVM is designed to improve the scalability of Ethereum, allowing faster and more efficient transactions with lower fees for developers and users of the protocol’s new feature. 

Polygon Takes Precautions Against Potential Risks of zkEVM Mainnet Beta Launch
According to the announcement, the protocol refers to the risks of using zkEVM Mainnet Beta. While the launch of the mainnet is a significant development for the protocol, undetected bugs can always disrupt the network’s stability. 
To address these potential risks, Polygon Labs has outlined “stringent” security measures, which will include the establishment of a temporary security council, which will be responsible for overseeing the network’s security and addressing any issues-
The security council will comprise various companies and organizations in the blockchain industry. Moreover, Polygon will implement a bug bounty program, which is intended to incentivize researchers and developers to identify and report any bugs or vulnerabilities that they discover in the Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta. 
With the risks and potential vulnerabilities, the established bug bounty program will have rewards of up to $1,000,000 being offered for documenting critical vulnerabilities, according to the protocol. 
Despite the positive development of the new Polygon feature, the protocol’s native token, MATIC, has not responded positively to the announcement. Currently, MATIC is trading at $1.0462, indicating a decline of over 5% in the last 24 hours.
However, the launch of these new developments has been met with positive reception from the cryptocurrency community, which could have a positive impact on MATIC’s price in the long term.

MakerDAO passes new 'constitution' to formalize governance process

The team behind Shiba Inu’s (SHIB) new layer-2 scaling solution says the protocol aims to provide quick and cost-effective transactions.
New public documentation reveals that Shibarium, which launched its beta version earlier this month, plans to acheive “true decentralization” by creating a protocol that charges minimal transaction fees, if not zero.

According Shiba Inu lead developer Shytoshi Kusama, Shibarium will offer low transfer fees for every project built on the layer-2 protocol, noting that the goal is to process transactions in “seconds for less than pennies.”
Touted as the “blockchain of [the] people,” Shibarium plans to become a secure, transparent and scalable blockchain that acts as a base layer for the development of new projects.
 “The blockchain ensures secure and transparent creation and exchange of digital assets. In addition, it serves as a base for the development of decentralized applications (DApps), including Shib – The Metaverse (Shib.io), Shiba Eternity, and various other products, projects, platforms, and services within the broader Shiba Inu community.” 
The public documentation also offers more insight on Shibarium’s burning mechanism. The document says that the burn mechanism will kick in after the protocol accumulates a specific amount of Bone ShibaSwap (BONE), the token that will be used for gas fees on Shibarium.
 “When a user makes a transaction on the network, the base fee is locked on a contract on Shibarium, while the priority fee is paid to the validator. This base fee will be split in 70% burned and 30% set aside to maintain the network. 
Once a certain amount of BONE ($25,000) is accumulated in the burn contract, users can start the burn process from Shibarium.” 
Shiba Inu is trading for $0.000011 at time of writing, a slight dip in the last 24 hours.

Shiba Inu’s Shibarium Aims To Process Transactions in Seconds for Less Than Pennies: New Public Documentation

Optimism-based lending protocol Kokomo Finance appears to have executed an exit scam, stealing roughly $4 million of users’ funds through a smart contract loophole.
Blockchain security firm CertiK flagged the incident on March 26, alerting Crypto Twitter of a price slippage on the project and the disappearance of its social media accounts. Kokoma’s website has also gone offline, with an error page popping up whenever users try to access it.
Kokomo Finance Rug Pulls Users for $4M
CertiK disclosed that the deployer of the KOKO token, address 0x41BE, executed an attack on the smart contract of a wrapped Bitcoin token (cBTC). The attacker then reset the reward speed, halted the borrow function, and turned the implementation contract into a malicious one.
Another address, 0x5a2d, approved the malicious cBTC smart contract to spend the 7010 sonne wrapped BTC (WBTC).
Since the implementation contract was already set to the malicious cBTC contract, the attacker called a command to transfer the sonne WBTC to the address 0x5C8d.
The final transaction saw address 0x5C8d swap the 7010 sonne WBTC to 141 wBTC, gaining approximately $4 million in profit.

KOKO Dumps Over 95%
Following the rug pull, KOKO, Kokoma’s native token, plunged by more than 95% from $0.020 to $0.00065.
Kokoma Finance recently went live on Optimism and Arbitrum as an open-source and non-custodial lending protocol for users to trade wBTC, Ether (ETH), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), and DAI.
Barely 24 hours after its launch, the platform had $2 million in total value locked (TVL), mostly in wBTC, according to data from DefiLlama. The exit scam dropped the platform’s TVL to just over $64,000.
Meanwhile, Kokoma Finance is not the only DeFi protocol to rug pull users in recent times. Earlier this month, the developers of Arbitrum-based decentralized exchange ArbiSwap suddenly removed over $130,000 from the project’s liquidity pool, leaving users scratching their heads and counting losses.

Optimism DeFi Protocol Kokomo Finance Rug Pulls Users for $4 Million 

The deployer of Kokomo Finance, a non-custodial lending protocol on Optimism and Arbitrum, which are popular layer-2 platforms on Ethereum, has rugged users of $4 million.

In recent years, rug pulls have become a popular way for scammers to steal hard-earned user funds. Here, the deployer of the protocol programs the smart contract to illegally pull out liquidity from its pools, drastically impacting the token’s ability to be freely traded, essentially crashing its price.

Preceding this heist, the security firm first noted high slippages on the protocol’s native token, KOKO, whose value is now down by over 98%. Trackers show that the token is $0.00064850 as of March 27. At the same time, the team had deactivated all of their social media channels, effectively cutting out everyone.
In a series of moves, the deployer of KOKO, the team behind the protocol, first deployed the attack contract, reducing reward speed and pausing borrowing. 
Afterward, the platform’s implementation contract was set into malicious code, which manipulated the main contract behind the wrapped Bitcoin token (cBTC). 
This set in motion other events, which saw the deployer spend 7010 sonne WBTC, which were eventually converted to 141 WBTC worth roughly $4 million at spot rates. The amount was then withdrawn to an external address by the manipulator. WBTC is a wrapped version of BTC, a token that tracks the value of Bitcoin.

Auditor’s Report Showed No Smart Contract Flaw
CertiK has said this is the largest rug pull they had observed on Optimism. Together with Arbitrum, the two are the most popular layer-2 platforms on Ethereum, enabling the launching of dapps in a scalable, low-fee environment. 

Although Kokomo Finance’s smart contracts had been audited by 0xguard, and a report was released on March 22, the auditor discovered no severe bug.

Before the rug pull, Kokomo Finance enabled the trading of, among other tokens, wBTC, ETH, DAI, and USDT. Per screen grabs shared on March 26, Kokomo Finance had a total value locked (TVL) of $ $1,952,888, according to DeFiLlama data. 

At this level, this TVL represented an over 20x rise from March 24, when it stood at just $67,000. Most of this was locked in Optimism with barely anything in Arbitrum. A dive into their assets under management reveals that wBTC constituted 72% of all the TVL while ETH made up 21%.

Solanaland Set To Commence Pre-Sale Of Utility Token

A core developer or popular meme asset Dogecoin (DOGE) is unveiling widespread updates to the blockchain as a means of making development on the protocol easier.
In a new announcement, DOGE developer Michi Lumin tells their 32,000 Twitter followers that many changes are coming to the project, including support for QR codes, other languages, message signing, and Windows builds.

Lumin describes how the upgrade will add language support for both developers and non-developers.
 “Libdogecoin now supports generation of seedphrases to and from keys, in many languages. For non-devs, this functionality is available in the included ‘such’ executable as a utility and can be used to generate mnemonic phrases.” 
The developer goes on to say that the blockchain will also now be able to support image-generating QR codes as well as message signing.
“Libdogecoin now generates QR codes on the fly in text, jpeg, and png formats without any additional libraries needed. Also functional in the ‘such’ utility. Libdogecoin now supports message+transaction signing and verification.” 
Other features include the ability for libdogecoin to be “ready-to-build” once loaded into MS Visual Studio on Windows as well as the ability for developers to query a flag to see if it was built with network functionality or not.
Furthermore, the upgrade includes fixes to many persistent problems developers may have encountered when building on the meme asset, such as memory integrity checks, truncation fixes and length checks for edge cases, according to the developer.
Dogecoin is trading for $0.0746 at time of writing, a 3.5% dip during the last 24 hours.

Revolutionary DeFi Protocol IPOR to Be Listed on Bitget on Mar 22nd, 2023

DeFi suffered its biggest attack this year with a flash loan attack on crypto lending platform Euler Finance and the hackers are belived to be same that exploited a BSC based protocol in February.

DeFi sees its biggest hack in 2023 as Euler loses $197M: Finance Redefined  

Euler Fianance protocol was attacked almost a week ago, which resulted in a loss of more than $180 million. And though the attacker behind the scheme is yet to be certainly identified, popular on-chain analyst Lookonchain has recently reported data hinting at who could be behind the hack. 
According to data from Lookonchain, the Euler Finance hacker sent 100 Ether (ETH) to a wallet address linked to the previous Ronin network bridge exploit which took place last year. The Ronin network is an underlying blockchain for the popular crypto game Axie Infinity.
After the network bridge was exploited last year for roughly $625 million, accounting for the second-largest attack on the developing crypto market, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) was able to trace the exploiter address and listed it as a hack from North Korean Notorious Hacking Group Lazarus.

Now, a year later, this same Ronin bridge exploiter address is seen receiving 100 ETH from the Euler Finance Hacker. Could this mean the Lazarus group was also behind the Euler Finance attack?
Lazarus Group Or Not?
The connection between the two addresses intersecting with each other has baffled the crypto community and also sparked speculation that the Lazarus group is expanding its targets in the cryptocurrency space as well as its methods of laundering and transferring funds. 
According to a report from blockchain analytics firm Peckshield, as of March 16, the Euler Finance flash loan exploiter moved a portion of the stolen funds – a total of 1,000 ETH tokens worth nearly $1.65 million, via an intermediary address to the famous crypto mixer, Tornado Cash.
Notably, it is still not certain yet whether the Lazarus group is behind the Euler Finance protocol hack as the 100 ETH transfer can be either a false flag, decoy, or a random occurrence that does not imply an intentional conspirational relationship between both addresses. 
However, because the sender of the Ethereum transaction split the funds into smaller amounts using a smart contract to allocate to different wallets which include that of the address of the exploiter of Solana-based decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol, Mango Markets, suggests that this whole transfer could certainly be a decoy to lure legal forces away from the actual attacker. 

Run Down On The Euler Finance Hack
It was last week when the attack on the Euler protocol took place and on-chain security firm Certik Alert initially reported the incident on Twitter, revealing that the bad actors had stolen 41 million DAI and still counting. It went further to warn users to be alert as the exploit was still ongoing at the time of the tweet. 
A few hours later, Certik posted an update that the hacker stole over $195 million from Euler Finance. It revealed that the assets comprise 96,800 ETH and 43.6 million DAI stablecoins, making it the largest exploit so far in 2023.
In response, the Euler Finance team has assured users of working to stop the exploit. The firm revealed that it had brought law enforcement and security professionals to the matter and will update the community soon. 

Meanwhile, the Euler Finance native token EUL is still suffering from the panic selling of investors from the hack. Over the past 7 days, EUL has plummeted by over 70%, and it is still moving in a downward trend, down by 5% in the last 24 hours despite the global crypto market’s bullish trend.

North Korea’s Lazarus Group Could Be Behind Euler Finance Hack

A Shiba Inu (SHIB) whale is abruptly moving hundreds of billions of tokens as a project developer debunks rumors that Shibarium, the ecosystem’s new layer-2 protocol, utilizes stolen code.
New data from the whale-tracking platform Whale Alert reveals that the deep-pocketed crypto investor suddenly moved 800,215,912,624 SHIB, worth $8,230,620 at time of transfer, from Shiba Staking to an unknown wallet.

The shift in tokens comes as a pseudonymous developer of the Shiba Inu ecosystem dispels rumors that Shibarium, which launched its highly anticipated beta testnet earlier this week, features code stolen from another blockchain.
According to the developer, the issue lies with the testnet’s Chain ID, an alternate way to tell blockchains apart, and it will be fixed and relaunched.
 “Dispelling some FUD [fear, uncertainty, and doubt] ever since we did the Alpha network deployment: few chain IDs were picked randomly – 417 (Alpha), 517 (Staging), 917 (pre-pod/beta), and these chains were not registered anywhere at that time. I made a mistake to not recheck when the Puppynet network was launched.
 Without getting into any fistfights I will be redeploying [a] new version of beta network with a new chain ID. Fresh deployments will be rare in the future but are possible because we will still be in [the] beta phase. I wish good luck to the blockchain and hope we can all work together.” 
SHIB is trading for $0.000002 at time of writing, a 17.2% decrease during the last 24 hours.

Shiba Inu Whale Abruptly Moves 800,215,912,624 SHIB As Dogecoin-Rival Developer Dispels Code Rumors

The Arbitrum Foundation has announced the launch of its new token under the ticker ARB, which will go live on March 23. With a $300 million ARB distribution, The ARB token will allow holders to vote on changes to the Ethereum layer 2 network. 
Arbitrum, the layer 2 blockchain protocol designed to increase scalability on the Ethereum blockchain, is taking steps in its transition as a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). 
Launching a DAO governance will mark an achievement for the protocol in decentralizing the network, becoming the first Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) roll-up technology to accomplish decentralization.

A Transition To A DAO Governance
This move allows the Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova to function independently of centralized actors, allowing its community to decide the next steps on the network’s roadmap for upcoming events. 
According to the announcement, the protocol’s DAO can authorize additional Layer 2 chains on Ethereum, regardless of whether the ARB toke governs the chain. This mechanism will ensure that its community fully controls the network’s technology. 
In addition, the foundation has announced the launch of Orbit, which allows developers to deploy their permissionless layer 3 blockchains using the protocol’s technology and Ethereum’s security.
Arbitrum Orbit is designed to reinforce and grow the network’s ecosystem, develop new protocol applications, and launch new protocol chains. The Arbitrum DAO can issue even more permission-based licenses to its users, ensuring complete control over the protocol’s future.
Distribution of Arbitrum’s New Token ARB
The announcement states that most Arbitrum tokens will be distributed to over 12% of the community members. The Arbitrum Foundation and DAO will be tasked with distributing the additional tokens to the community over time. The Arbitrum Foundation added:
While the user and DAO airdrops will be available in one week, all investor and team tokens are subject to 4 year lockups, with the first unlocks happening in one year and then monthly unlocks for the remaining three years.
The protocol has recently surpassed the highest Total Value Locked (TVL) across all Layer 2 networks, with a TVL of $3.60 billion, up 9.37% in the last few days, and a market share of 55.87% among all rollups. The Foundation concluded:

The popular Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution, Arbitrum, announced that they will be airdropping their long-awaited token in a week from now.

March 23rd is the date when Arbitrum will airdrop the long-awaited ARB token.
The team released detailed documentation which outlines that 1.162 billion tokens, representing 11.62 percent of the total initial supply, will be airdropped to “users of the Arbitrum platform (via airdrop to user wallet addresses).
ARB will be a governance token, and it will be launched on Arbitrum One, native to it.

The Wait is Over: Arbitrum Will Airdrop Over 1 Billion ARB Tokens to Users of the Protocol

The crypto space is still buzzing with the latest crypto attack on the decentralized lending protocol, Euler Finance. The exploit, which took place on March 13, saw the platform lose about $196 million worth of crypto assets. The hacker preyed on software vulnerabilities in the lending protocol to perpetrate the act.
Though Euler Finance gave the hacker an ultimatum of returning the funds within 24 hours or facing prosecution, the latter seems to be their choice. Hence, the attacker has reportedly sent the stolen funds to a crypto mixer.
Hacker Transfers Part Of Stolen Funds
PeckShield reported the latest move from the hacker of Euler Finance through a Twitter post. According to the blockchain analytics company, the flash loan exploiter moved 1,000 ETH tokens worth almost $1.65 million to the famous crypto mixer, Tornado Cash. The firm noted that the hacker sent the Ether tokens through an intermediary address.

Also, CertiK Alert reported that the exploiter moved 2,500 ETH tokens worth about $4.13 million into another address labeled as Fake_Phishing76535. 
The DeFi lending protocol had earlier sent an on-chain message to the attacker’s address demanding he returns 90% of the funds within 24 hours. It threatened to launch a $1 million reward for anyone that would provide information in arresting the hacker and recovering all stolen. Euler Finance sent the message on March 15, a day before the attacker’s recent funds transfer.

The hacker’s move to send part of the stolen funds to a crypto mixer came a few hours after Euler’s ultimatum. This shows the attacker is not shaken by the message as a deal or threat.
Euler Finance Hacker Returns A Victim’s Funds
Further, in its tweet, PeckShield mentioned that the Euler Finance hacker also sent out 100 ETH tokens worth almost $165,202 at the current crypto market price. The funds went to a wallet address that possibly belonged to a victim of the attack.

According to the analytics firm, the wallet address had earlier sent an on-chain message to the attacker, pleading for their funds. Also, another Twitter user, ‘Wazz,’ confirmed that the victim begged that hacker for the money, explaining that it was their life savings. The victim mentioned they’re in a mess they’re neither a whale nor a millionaire but a commoner struggling with life. 
Following the return of the victim’s funds, other victims have been bombarding the hacker’s address with messages. They hope to recover their funds as well.
One of the messages congratulated the hacker on the big win through the flash loan attack. However, the user later explained that the investment in Euler was through a collective effort with his wife. So, he pleaded for the funds to help them get a house they needed desperately, citing that his wife would kill him if the funds were not returned. 
Another message to the exploiter stated their collective investment was a million USDT tokens. The funds are life-saving for 26 families who are jobless in rural areas after working several decades in factories.
