Earlier this week, human-computer interaction Sightful unveiled Spacetop, a personal computing device that allows you to access vital web applications from the comfort of your own virtual workspace. Instead of a conventional computer monitor, you view content using tethered augmented reality (AR) glasses.

Designed for the “work from anywhere” movement



Each Spacetop comes equipped with a pair of NReal AR glasses, allowing you access to the proprietary Spacetop environment where you can work on Google Docs, join Zoom calls, and perform various other tasks via a series of 13″-16″ screens. According to Sightful, users can bring a multi-monitor setup with them on the go while keeping their work hidden from watchful eyes. 









“Two worlds sit at a crossroads: Laptops are the centerpiece of our daily working lives, but the technology has not evolved with the modern, work from anywhere, privacy matters, ‘road warrior’ mentality,” said Tamir Berliner, CEO and co-founder of Sightful, in an official release. 



“Meanwhile, augmented reality (AR) is full of potential and promise, but is yet to find its daily use case. We are at the perfect moment for a significant paradigm shift in a device we all know and love, and Spacetop Early Access is the first step in that journey.”

This Laptop Features AR Glasses Instead Of A Screen

The price of Internet Computer (ICP) experienced a downward movement dropping by 41.98% to a low of $5.05 on April 26, 2023. This was after a significant surge from April 10 to April 19, when it started the downtrend. 
This price decline affected the market sentiment of Investors and traders. Since the beginning of this month, ICP has exhibited range-bound behavior. ICP price has fluctuated between $6 – $5, resulting in a sideway price movement.
The question is whether the bearish momentum will continue or if there’s a chance for a reversal soon.
Bears To Hold Current Trend, Or Will The Bulls Rebuild Momentum?
According to data, ICP experienced a slight price increase, reaching $5.34, representing a 2.7% increase within the last 24-hour trading period. This increase suggests that demand has surpassed supply in the market. This might attract more buyers and also increase the overall market confidence.

The total market cap of ICP is also up today by 2.58%, representing a value of over $2 million. The growth in market cap was potentially driven by an increase in demand or positive market sentiment. The 24-hour trading volume surged by 21.81% overnight, rising to about $19 million.
The Internet Computer Fear & Greed Index is 50 based on investor sentiment and market psychology. A value of 50 suggests that neither fear nor greed is dominant among traders and investors.
Based on the recent increase in the overall ICP’s price movement, the bulls are gradually taking control of the market. If this momentum persists, ICP might rise significantly in the next few weeks.
ICP Technical Outlook Using Indicators
The asset is trading above its 200-Day Simple Moving Average (SMA). This indicates a long-term bullish trend and presents a potential buy opportunity for traders and investors.
While ICP’s long-term prospects are bullish, there may be potential short-term uncertainties that need to be considered by traders.
For instance, the Relative Strength Index is showing 47.46. This shows that there’s market indecision between buyers and sellers. Also, the pressure currently in the market is neutral. Also, the Moving Average Convergence/Divergence (MACD) indicates a potential bearish trend as the MACD is trading below its signal line.

Moreover, ICP is below its 50-Day Simple Moving Average (SMA), a bearish indication based on the short-term price movement. The current price trend, as indicated by the ICP chart, suggests a possibility of further decline in the short term.

But it remains uncertain if this trend will continue or if the bulls will regain dominance as more developments on the network could spike adoption and usage. Internet Computer now trades between its direct support and resistance levels of $4.923 and $6.860.
The next significant support level is $3.302, while the resistance level is $8.251. If the bulls maintain this growing momentum, ICP might break the primary resistance level of $6.860 before heading toward the next resistance level.

Pedro Lopes, an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at the University of Chicago who focuses on integrating interfaces with the human body by exploring the interface paradigm that supersedes wearables, wants to make jumping in VR a more enjoyable experience.



Lopes and his team created a mechanical backpack called JumpMod that can help enhance the sensation of falling and jumping in the virtual world by moving your weight up and down through simulating forces on your body. 









JumpMod can also simulate the feeling of being strapped to a roller coaster as it makes that first big drop or riding in the backseat of a car as it makes an especially sharp turn. 



The mechanical backpack features a 2-kilogram weighted cube attached to a linear rail, which propels the user up and down at different speeds depending on what they’re experiencing in VR. This is how the team was able to create a system that replicates the sensation of physical motion.



The JumpMod utilizes a belt drive and an encoded mechanism for quick and precise movements. Its motor can be controlled using a Seeeduino XIAO nRF52840 BLE Sense microcontroller development board, which also provides wireless connectivity to give you the ability to jump without worrying about getting tangled up in wires.

JumpMod detects when a user jumps using an HTC VR headset and HTC’s lighthouse V2 tracking system and calculates the user’s jump sequence based on their height and descent.



The system then estimates your weight’s movement in relation to your jump phase to provide a more accurate and authentic experience. This includes movements of your weight and the motion of going up or down, which delivers the feeling of jumping at different heights. The system can even adjust the hardness and softness of your landings.

User studies were performed to test the system’s accuracy using a dozen participants. The results of the study revealed that the algorithm was 94% accurate in identifying all four jump phases.



In a demonstration video posted on YouTube, one user can be seen jumping and then says, “It feels like I jumped higher.”



Lopes and his team then focused on analyzing how the user’s perception of their jumps was affected by the use of the JumpMod. The system was able to generate varying sensations based on the types of jumps that the participants performed. The results of this study revealed an impressive 81% accuracy.

Another study was then conducted to analyze how a user’s perception of the jumps was affected when they played a VR game using the JumpMod. The game featured various elements such as wind and power-ups that increase the user’s jumping abilities. The results of the study showed that the effects of the device on the users’ perception of the jumps were significantly different when they used the backpack and a VR headset.



The team members of the company are currently working on developing additional sensing systems and actuators that could be used to enhance the experience further.



Lopez recently presented his work at the Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems in Hamburg, Germany where he talked more about how their JumpMod system could be used to improve training through an enhanced haptic feedback experience. You can read more about JumpMod here.
