Quant Hype Spikes As Price Surges 15% – Is This A Top Signal?

Widely followed quantitative analyst PlanB says that Bitcoin (BTC) is likely to experience explosive growth heading into next year’s halving event.
The pseudonymous quant analyst tells his 1.8 million Twitter followers that Bitcoin will likely follow the stock-to-flow (S2F) model and, before the year’s end, soar more than 588% from its current value of $29,069, reaching $200,000.

According to PlanB, Bitcoin’s scheduled halving in April 2024, an event that slashes BTC miners’ reward in half, will be the catalyst to send the king crypto to new all-time highs.
“2024 halving cycle is going to be very interesting. Or 2022 was an outlier and 2023+ will revert to S2F model line. Or there is a non-linear relationship between S2F/halving and price, diminishing return. IMO (in my opinion) 2022 was an outlier and exponential growth will continue until ~50% adoption. Time will tell.”

Traders have traditionally used the S2F model to predict the price action of commodities like gold and silver. The model predicts the performance of an asset based on the theory that the price increases as the asset becomes more scarce.
PlanB also predicts that Bitcoin’s value will be sent higher through wider adoption of the digital asset. He estimates there are just one million individual holders of Bitcoin while noting there are 56 million fiat millionaires in the world.
“I do not count people who hold paper bitcoin on exchanges as hodlers (they are more traders). So if we look at people that hold real on-chain bitcoin, there are only 3.5 million BTC addresses with more than 0.1 BTC on it… and many hodlers have multiple addresses so that number probably converts to say ~1 million hodlers.”

In making his case for Bitcoin’s growth, the quant analyst also notes that when liquidity is injected into the markets, Bitcoin outperforms assets like gold and stocks.
“Global liquidity (especially central bank money printing after [Global Financial Crisis of 2008] and [Covid 19 stimulus checks]) is the tide that lifts all boats. But some boats got lifted much higher!

Quant Analyst PlanB Says Bitcoin’s Exponential Growth To Continue As BTC Halving Approaches

Widely followed quantitative analyst PlanB believes that next year’s Bitcoin (BTC) halving will likely send the crypto king to new all-time highs.
The quant analyst tells his 1.8 million Twitter followers that the stock-to-flow (S2F) Bitcoin model predicts that the top digital asset will soar more than 1,847% from its current value of $27,316.

The S2F has traditionally been applied to commodities like gold and silver. It predicts the performance of an asset based on the idea that the price increases as the asset becomes more scarce.
According to the analyst, Bitcoin will likely hit his massive target after the crypto king’s halving, an event that slashes BTC miners’ reward in half.
“My Jan. 12 prediction is in line with S2F model: 
1) ~$32,000 is S2F 1 standard deviation band 
2) ~$60,000 is S2F model value and just before halving (dark blue) BTC seems to hit S2F model values 
3) $100,000 is the bottom of my $100,000-$1 million range around $532,000 S2F model value after 2024 halving.”

PlanB also defends his stock-to-flow model against critics who question its accuracy after it inaccurately forecasted Bitcoin would hit $100,000 in 2021.
“Saying S2F model is ‘wrong/invalid/broken,’ means saying BTC price pumps after 2012, 2016, 2020 halvings (red arrows) are coincidences, random, unrelated to halvings. Possible, but I disagree. In my opinion, 21 million cap, supply schedule, four-year halving cycle are fundamental to BTC price. 
In my opinion, the halving will probably be at S2F model value $60,000 (dark blue) and BTC will pump after the halving (red), just like 2012, 2016, 2020 halvings.”

According to PlanB, his model has proven largely accurate in determining market trends since he created it in 2019.
“For me, the S2F model works as expected when I made the model in March 2019 (BTC <$4,000) and makes me money. I guess some got too focused on $100,000. And there is a lot of misunderstanding, about S2F and about models in general.” 
He also recently said that $15,500 was Bitcoin’s bottom.

$532,000 Bitcoin (BTC) Price on the Horizon, Predicts Quant Analyst PlanB – Here’s His Timeline

Widely followed quantitative analyst PlanB believes that Bitcoin (BTC) is in the early days of a fresh bull market.
The quant analyst tells his 1.8 million Twitter followers that Bitcoin has exited deep bear territory.

According to a chart shared by the crypto strategist, Bitcoin has been out of the late bear market stage since the beginning of 2023, and BTC is now in bull territory.
“I guess this color scheme is better because it aligns with green and red candles in Bitcoin bull and bear markets?
Stage 1: early bull <- we are here (blue)
Stage 2: late bull (green)  
Stage 3: early bear (yellow)

Looking at Bitcoin’s technicals, PlanB highlights that the relative strength indicator (RSI) also suggests that BTC is in a bull market. In a new strategy session, the quant analyst tells his 46,500 YouTube subscribers that the momentum indicator is hovering above the 50 level, which he notes has historically marked the start of a new bull cycle.
“What you see historically if Bitcoin enters the 50 plus RSI area… it goes on, the trend goes on and a next bull market starts.”

PlanB is also responding to the critics of his stock-to-flow (S2F) trading model, which attempts to predict the performance of an asset based on the idea that the price increases as the asset becomes more scarce.
During the last bull cycle, PlanB used the S2F model to forecast that BTC will top out at around $288,000.
According to the quant analyst, he believes the S2F still remains valid even though BTC topped out at around $69,000 in 2021. PlanB says that Bitcoin’s fundamentals will eventually push the price of BTC to greater heights.

Quant Analyst PlanB Says Bitcoin (BTC) in Early Stages of Bull Market

The three “VIP” quant trading firms named by the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in its lawsuit against the Binance cryptocurrency exchange have been reportedly revealed to be Radix Trading, Jane Street, and Tower Research.
The Three Unnamed VIP Trading Firms Revealed
On March 27, the CFTC sued Binance for violating trading laws and enabling United States citizens to access the platform. In the lawsuit, Radix Trading is only identified as “Trading Firm A.” Jane Street and Tower Research are “Trading Firm B” and “Trading Firm B,” respectively.

Radix Trading is a trading firm based in Chicago but with offices in other parts of the world, including Amsterdam. Also serving as a research firm, the company claims to be “powered by technology but monetized by trading.” 
Jane Street is a quant trading firm with multiple offices, including in New York and Singapore. The firm is mainly known for offering sophisticated analysis and providing liquidity. Meanwhile, Tower Research offers high-frequency and algorithmic trading with headquarters in New York City.
The three VIP trading firms are all based in the United States but use offshore entities to trade on the platform. The CFTC now cites this as an example of how its citizens and firms could access the exchange despite Binance saying it has thorough screening measures in place.


Responding to news reports, Radix co-founder Benjamin Blander is adamant they didn’t violate any laws by trading via offshore entities on Binance and they are cooperating with the CFTC. Jane Street declined to comment, while Tower did not respond to requests for comment. 
Meanwhile, the exchange said it had boosted compliance and was disappointed by the CFTC’s accusations.
Preferential Treatment From Binance
The three institutional trading firms, active in trading Bitcoin perpetual and other cryptocurrency derivatives, allegedly received “VIP” treatment from Binance, according to the lawsuit filed by the CFTC. 
Among other perks, they also got lower transaction fees and faster access for trades in return for providing liquidity. It was further revealed that the exchange was willing to notify them should there be any inquiry or investigation from a law enforcement agency.

Besides the CFTC lawsuit, there is a $1 billion civil lawsuit where the Binance CEO, Changpeng Zhao, and several influencers, including Ben Armstrong, popularly known as BitBoy, are accused of illegally promoting unregistered securities listed on Binance.

The 3 VIP Trading Firms In The Binance-CFTC Lawsuit Revealed

A leading analytics firm reveals that one of the world’s largest market makers has accumulated hundreds of millions of dollars worth of stablecoin USD Coin (USDC) and Ethereum (ETH) in as little as one month.
Arkham Intelligence shows that quant trading firm Jane Street has over $1.26 billion worth of crypto assets in its portfolio.

According to the analytics firm, Jane Street had about $470 million worth of crypto assets on February 27th, with Ethereum making most of the market maker’s portfolio. At the time, Jane Street held $416.84 million worth of ETH, $28.77 million in USDC, $12.21 million worth of the decentralized oracle network Chainlink (LINK) and $5.71 million worth of the decentralized exchange Uniswap (UNI).
Arkham says that Jane Street has been rapidly growing its crypto stacks over the past month, with massive amounts of USDC and ETH being added to their holding addresses.
According to the crypto intelligence firm, Jane Street now holds $761.71 million worth of USDC, $476.29 million worth of ETH, $13.36 million worth of LINK and $6.42 million worth of UNI.
Arkham Intelligence says that the quant trading firm’s crypto portfolio exploded by $795.64 million in about 30 days.

The analytics firm also points out they’re quite sure that the wallets containing the crypto assets belong to the market maker.
“Our label attributions are algorithmically greater than 95% confidence and manually reviewed before being uploaded to the platform. As for customer balances – this appears to be coming into their main wallets rather than an OTC [over-the-counter] service.”

Quant Trading Firm Accumulates Nearly $800,000,000 Worth of USCD and Ethereum in One Month: On-Chain Data

A rapid acceleration in Bitcoin’s pace of global adoption could catapult the top cryptocurrency to staggering new heights, according to quantitative analyst PlanB.
In a series of tweets, the pseudonymous strategist says the most powerful part of Bitcoin’s adoption s-curve is around the corner.

The adoption s-curve is often used to track the cumulative rate at which people adopt breakthrough technologies.
According to PlanB, BTC’s pace of adoption is about to witness an unprecedented level of acceleration that could bring its price to as high as $10 million by 2028.
“If Bitcoin adoption is now 1-5%, then we will enter the vertical of the S-curve next couple of years. On log scale (left) this just means more exponential growth until 50% adoption. 
For the linear thinkers (right) everything will change. Bitcoin might be substantially undervalued…
Although I enjoyed Bitcoin adoption the last 10+ years (especially the investment returns), I am really looking forward to the vertical part of the S-curve in the next halving period (2024-2028).”

Plan B is well-known for applying the stock-to-flow scarcity model to Bitcoin (BTC), which divides the total supply of an asset by the new supply entering the market to forecast future moves in price.
Based on that model, PlanB predicts BTC’s next top will happen around 2025, with its price landing between $100,000 to $1,000,000.
